The Juvéderm® Procedure
Before the appointment, we advise avoiding blood-thinning medications, such as aspirin, and supplements like fish oil, to minimize the risk of bruising. The consultation will give the practitioner any relevant information needed, such as allergies or medications, crucial for a safe procedure.
Upon arriving for the appointment, the treatment area is cleansed, and a topical anesthetic may be applied for added comfort. Our skilled staff then uses precise injections to deliver the Juvéderm filler, strategically enhancing volume and smoothing out wrinkles. The procedure takes about 15 to 60 minutes, depending on the areas treated. Patients may experience mild discomfort, but the overall process is well-tolerated.
Your Recovery and Results
Patients can resume their daily activities after the procedure with minimal interruption. Some patients may experience temporary redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection sites, but these effects typically subside within a few days. To help with bruising, pineapple contains bromelain, a natural compound. Both bromelain and another supplement, Arnica Montana, alleviate bruising and can be found in most vitamin stores. Applying a cold compress and sleeping with the head elevated helps alleviate any discomfort. We advise against strenuous exercise, alcohol consumption, and direct sun exposure immediately after the procedure to optimize results. If the patient desires, Thrive offers laser options to speed up healing of bruises.
