Liposuction is a cosmetic procedure to address localized areas of fat, also known as adipose tissue, affecting the desired body shape. It is most effective for individuals at or near their ideal body weight with specific areas of stubborn fat. Liposuction is not a weight loss solution and is not recommended for those seeking significant weight reduction or a remedy for other aesthetic concerns.

The Liposuction Procedure
Before your procedure, make sure you have bathed and eaten a small, light meal. Once you arrive for the procedure, you’ll be offered an oral sedative for comfort, although it’s not mandatory. If you opt for a sedative, you’ll need to arrange for someone to transport you to and from the office. Then you’ll change into a surgical gown and lie on the operating table. After applying a warm antiseptic to cleanse your skin, small access points will be created using a surgical blade, and a numbing injection will be administered.
Next, a specialized solution will anesthetize the treatment area, ensuring minimal discomfort. Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) is an option for more sensitive patients. A suction cannula (a hollow metal tube designed to remove fat) will be inserted through the access points and connected to a machine for precise and controlled removal until no other fat can be removed.
Upon completion, the treatment area will be cleaned, and sterile dressings will be applied to minimize swelling and discomfort.
Your Recovery and Results
Most patients can resume light activities immediately. You’ll be provided with a short-term compressive garment, which can be replaced with a more user-friendly option available for purchase at our store. These garments aid in comfort and swelling reduction and are worn for approximately six weeks.
While most patients experience minimal pain at rest, discomfort can intensify with movement, serving as a reminder the treated areas are healing. Occasional patients may experience more discomfort, which can be managed with over-the-counter medication. Severe narcotics are rarely necessary.
The results of liposuction are immediate and permanent. However, patients with significant weight may require retreatment. Any remaining fat cells may grow but will not reproduce. While rare, for those with weight gain after the procedure, Dr. Zubowicz will revise treatment at no cost if he believes he can improve results.
