MOXI™ Laser

Experience the next generation of gentle laser resurfacing with the Moxi™ Laser by Sciton, one of the most in-demand treatments for brighter, smoother, more youthful-looking skin. This “prejuvenation” treatment is a favorite among first-time laser patients, busy professionals, and anyone looking for a powerful skin reset without excessive redness or recovery.

What is MOXI™ Laser?

Moxi™ is a non-ablative, fractionated laser treatment designed to rejuvenate the skin by delivering controlled energy into the upper layers of the skin. This stimulates fresh cell turnover, targets unwanted pigment, improves texture, and enhances overall skin brightness. Moxi is gentle yet effective, making it suitable for all skin types—including those seeking year-round, low-downtime treatments. Nicknamed the “lunchtime laser,” Moxi offers impressive results with minimal redness and quick recovery.

Why Choose MOXI™ Laser at Thrive Medical Spa?

Moxi is ideal for anyone wanting a predictable, versatile laser treatment that fits a busy lifestyle. Patients choose Moxi because it:

  • Improves uneven skin tone and brown spots

  • Softens rough texture and visible pores

  • Brightens dull, environmentally stressed skin

  • Helps delay signs of aging (“prejuvenation”)

  • Requires little to no social downtime

  • Works beautifully as part of a long-term skin maintenance plan

  • Is safe for all skin types, including many with higher Fitzpatrick levels

If you want smoother, clearer, healthier-looking skin without an aggressive resurfacing laser, Moxi is the perfect fit.

The MOXI™ Laser Procedure

At Thrive Medical Spa, our Moxi treatment uses a non-ablative fractional laser to gently rejuvenate the skin from within — improving tone, texture, pigmentation, and early signs of aging while preserving your skin’s surface.

Your visit begins with a brief consultation to assess your skin and personalize your treatment plan. On the day of your session, your provider will cleanse your skin and apply a topical numbing cream if needed to maximize comfort.

Next, a handheld MOXI laser device is gently passed over the treatment area — typically your face (though neck, chest, hands or other areas can also be treated) — delivering precise, fractionated laser pulses that stimulate collagen production and prompt your skin’s natural renewal process.

The procedure itself takes only about 15–30 minutes, making it easy to schedule even around a busy day.

Your Recovery and Results

After your Moxi session, your skin will feel warm—similar to a mild sunburn—for a few hours. Over the next several days, tiny micro-dots called “MENDs” (microscopic epidermal necrotic debris) appear as your skin begins its renewal process. These MENDs naturally shed within 3–5 days, revealing fresher, clearer, more radiant skin underneath.

Most patients resume normal activities the same day or next day and can apply makeup within 24 hours. Results continue to improve over 1–2 weeks, especially with a series of treatments or when combined with BBL® for even greater correction. Long-term results are enhanced with SPF and consistent skincare.

Safety is Our Priority

Your safety is our highest priority. At Thrive Medical Spa, all laser treatments—including Moxi—are performed under strict medical oversight using Sciton’s FDA-cleared technology. Our team follows comprehensive laser safety protocols including protective eyewear, calibrated device settings, rigorous sanitation standards, skin-type assessments, and personalized treatment planning. Each patient receives a thorough consultation to ensure Moxi is the right treatment for their skin, goals, and health history. Our commitment to safety ensures you enjoy beautiful results with complete peace of mind.

MOXI™ Laser Frequently Asked Questions

How does MOXI’s 1927nm wavelength differ from other fractional lasers?
MOXI uses a 1927nm thulium wavelength that targets water within the superficial epidermis, making it highly effective for treating pigmentation, sun damage, and texture with minimal downtime. Unlike deeper ablative lasers, MOXI focuses on controlled micro-injury in the upper layers of the skin to promote rapid renewal and collagen stimulation.
Can MOXI be safely combined with other laser or energy-based treatments?
Yes. MOXI is commonly paired with BBL for enhanced pigment correction or with deeper resurfacing lasers as part of a staged treatment plan. Because MOXI is non-ablative, it integrates well with other modalities when timed appropriately. Your provider at Thrive Medical Spa will plan combination treatments based on skin needs, recovery time, and long-term goals.
How does MOXI affect melanin production, and is it safe for darker skin tones?
MOXI’s fractional energy primarily targets water, not pigment, making it safer for a broader range of skin types compared to pigment-seeking lasers. However, advanced Fitzpatrick types may require adjusted settings, spacing between treatments, and pre-treatment skincare to reduce the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. A consultation ensures correct parameters for your skin tone.
How soon can medical-grade skincare or retinoids be resumed after a MOXI treatment?
Most clients can resume active ingredients such as retinoids, AHAs, and vitamin C within 5–7 days once the micro-exfoliation phase is complete and the skin barrier has recovered. Thrive Medical Spa providers often recommend barrier-repair serums and gentle hydration during the first several days to optimize results and minimize irritation.
Does MOXI produce cumulative results, and how often should maintenance treatments be done?
Yes, MOXI results are cumulative. Each treatment builds collagen and increases cellular turnover, enhancing brightness, clarity, and texture over time. For optimal results, many patients complete a series of 3–4 sessions spaced four weeks apart, followed by maintenance every 3–6 months depending on lifestyle, sun exposure, and skin goals.
