What is Chin Liposuction?
Chin liposuction is a cosmetic surgical procedure involving the removal of excess fat from the chin and neck area using a thin, hollow tube called a cannula. This procedure typically targets a double chin or “turkey neck” through contouring and sculpting the area. In its present form, liposuction has been around for decades.
Candidates for this procedure include those with excess fat below the skin. Some patients considering cervicoplasty (”neck lift”) may see sufficient improvement from chin liposuction, avoiding a more extensive operation.
If neck aging is not due to excess subcutaneous fat, then those patients will not benefit from chin liposuction. Dr. Zubowicz will conduct an extensive consultation to establish whether or not neck liposuction will deliver the desired changes.

The Chin Liposuction Procedure
No special preparation is required for the procedure, and most patients opt for local anesthesia. If a sedative is requested, the patient must arrange for a ride home. During the procedure, you’ll be comfortably positioned on the operating table with your head extended, ensuring a sterile environment. Our expert team will anesthetize the access point (or points, if needed) with a local anesthetic before making a small puncture in the skin. To enhance your comfort, the targeted fat is filled with a numbing solution, allowing time for its effects to take hold. Then, the subcutaneous fat is skillfully removed through liposuction. While we offer skin tightening as an option, these additional services are often ineffective in most cases and may not warrant the extra cost. Even the most extensive procedures typically take less than an hour.
Your Recovery and Results
You can resume full activities as soon as the day after the operation. To enhance recovery, we provide a compressive strap designed to apply gentle pressure over the treated area. You’ll wear this for a couple of weeks, as it contributes to your healing process, but it doesn’t need to be worn in public. Most patients experience only minor soreness in the neck after the procedure, ensuring a smooth and manageable recovery. The removed fat won’t return, providing you with lasting results. Over time, the neck may naturally age due to muscle and skin changes, but your rejuvenated appearance will endure.
